The ECS are pushing changes for electricians with regards to Solar PV, Battery Storage and Electric Vehicle charging. They are referencing the Electrician Plus qualifications as a fundamental requirement for ECS cards.
The EAS (Electrotechnical Assessment Specification) will be implementing changes that mean, by October 2026, individuals will need to hold one of the following qualifications to belong to a CPS (Competent Persons Scheme) such as NICEIC, NAPIT, etc:
- Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment
- Solar Voltaic Systems
- Electric Energy Storage Systems
- Micro Wind Turbines
The entry level for any of these courses is an NVQ Level 3 Gold Card.
Are you prepared? Don’t leave it to the last minute and run the risk on not being able to remain registered as CPS.
