Awareness of Amendment 2 and 3 to Wiring Regulations BS7671 (Redford Charles course)
£195.00
Course Information:
All electrical installations MUST comply with the latest edition of the Wiring Regulations BS 7671 2018+A2:2022 (brown book), including the latest addition of Amendment 3.
The IET Wiring Regulations is the national standard to which all new electrical installations and additions, and alterations to existing electrical installations in the UK are to comply and this course covers the amendments introduced in the regulations ensuring electrical contractors are aware of and familiar with the new regulations and significant changes to ensure electrical installations are compliant.
Amendment 3 is in response to the BEAMA guide regarding Bi -directional devices, aiming to ensure safe and reliable electrical installations for the growing number of renewable energy sources and bi-directional power flow scenarios as the protective device can be compromised if using the wrong device for the circumstance.
Amendment 2 continues to focus on the fire safety of the building at design stage and develops the previously introduced inclusion for Arc Fault Detection Devices in certain areas. The Amendment also expands on the ‘Prosumer’s Low Voltage Electrical Installations’, which is a step into the future of renewable sources of energy and their integration into our lives.
Significant changes include:
- A new requirement for Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDDs) in some AC final circuits for installations in some types of higher risk buildings.
- The requirement for the fire safety design of buildings to be documented, such as protected escape routes and locations with risk of fire.
- A method for determining the requirement to provide overvoltage protection.
- Changes to identification, labels and notices, such as for consumer units, affecting how safety information is provided to the user of the electrical installation.
- A New Part 8: This covers energy efficiency and prosumers of low voltage electrical installations, which highlights some of the additional requirements that designers and installers should be aware of when working on newer installations that can generate their own energy supply.
- Installation Certificates: Some alterations, including a reduction in the number of items on the Schedule of Inspections for an Electrical Installation Certificate, thus significantly reducing the number of tick boxes.
