Course Information:
This one-day course covers the protection against voltage disturbances and Electromagnetic disturbances and the subjects to be covered on the day:
- Protection against over-voltages of atmospheric origin (lightning)
- Protection against over-voltages generated by the equipment within the installation (switching of inductive loads)
- Consequential levels of protection (consequences and risk assessment calculations the CRL equation)
- Sources of electromagnetic disturbances
- Selection and erection of surge protective devices
- Connection of surge protective devices
- Typical installation methods of a surge protective device in a power distribution board
- The application of SPDs using the lightning protection zone concept (LPZ)
- Examples of best and bad practice of installation
- Ongoing inspection and test
- Performance values as defined in section 534 for the surge protection device assembly (SPDA)
- SPDs in non-LV circuits for example, Ethernet, CCTV, Electric Vehicles and communication systems
Training Venue:
Training is delivered from our training centre in Strood, near Rochester in Kent (ME2 2LT).
